By Benjamin Flowers: The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rolled out a special welcome this week for Belize’s Foreign Minister, Eamon Courtenay.
Courtenay left Belize on Thursday, joining Prime Minister John Briceno and other foreign service staff on a mission to Venezuela for bilateral talks with President Nicholas Maduro.
Venezuela’s Vice Minister for the Caribbean and Latin America also took to social media to welcome Courtenay tweeting on his official Twitter account:
“On behalf of Pdte. @NicolasMaduro and the Chancellor @Fariacrt, we received the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration of Belize, Eaton Courtenay, who arrives in the country to strengthen brotherhood and comprehensive cooperation between both Nations. Welcome!”
While in Venezuela, Courtenay also visited the National Pantheon and paid tribute to Simón Bolivar, a hero of the Venezuelan Homeland.
