By Breaking Belize News Staff: A man who was charged for stabbing his ex-girlfriend and her new lover multiple times pleaded guilty in court this week but, thus far has been spared prison time.
Twenty-five-year-old Jefferson Jacobo appeared in the Supreme Court on Thursday before Justice Ricardo O’Neil Sandcroft where he was indicted on two counts of attempted murder.
After the facts were read to him, Jacobo pleaded guilty to two counts of use of deadly means of harm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, which is a lesser charge.
Justice Sandcroft then imposed a three-year suspended sentence, meaning that Jacobo will not see prison time if he complies with the orders of the court. He was ordered to pay $2,000 in compensation to the victims, and enroll in anger management counseling for the next two years. He also must not be charged for any criminal offense while on his suspended sentence.
In April 2018, Jcobo broke into the apartment of his ex-girlfriend and her new lover, took a kitchen knife and repeatedly stabbed them both. The victim told police that they had broken up months before the incident.
