Verdes, Altitude battle in the first leg of the Premier League of Belize Finals today in San Ignacio

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes and Altitude kick off the first leg of the Premier League of Belize’s Opening Championship Finals today at 3:30 pm at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio.

Both teams are super excited prior to the two games which will crown Belize’s football champions, Verdes go in as the defending champions while Altitude, the challengers, go in as the regular season winners.

During the regular season, Verdes downed Altitude in their own backyard at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence 1-0 on August 20 but Altitude managed a 1-1 draw in the return leg which was played at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan on October 8.

On their way to the Finals, Verdes eliminated the San Pedro Pirates while Altitude took out Progresso.

Verdes seems to have more firepower of late with Trimayne Harris and Desmond Wade supporting lead striker Paraguayan Luis Ibarra, but Altitude sports the PLB’s top scorer Colombian Andrés Orozco supported by his compatriot Miguel Garcia.

Tickets are selling for $15.00 before the game. At the gate, tickets will cost $20.
