By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Ninety-nine police officers from around the country are participating in a 2-day capacity building symposium at the National Police Training Academy in Belmopan.

In collaboration with Belize Police Department, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is funding, organizing, and facilitating this two days training in Cybercrime for First Responders and Digital Forensic Analysts.

The participants will learn about methodologies, virtual platforms, basic concepts, digital evidence concepts, proper management of a chain of custody, forensic extraction from mobile devices, and data extraction from computers.

This cybercrime first responders and digital forensic analyst capacity building will be completed with participants doing a report presentation, court defense simulation, and a visit to the police department’s forensic lab on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.

The Belize Police Department thanks UNODC for its continued partnership and support.
