FIFA World Cup: England drop Wales 3-0, qualify tops in Group B

England dominated the match defeating Wales 3-0 on three second half goals, including a brace by Marcus Rashford, at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Ar-Rayyan qualifying to the Round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup.

England controlled the pace of the game in the first half but were unable to score in front of 44,297 fans but that changed in the second half.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring for England from a free kick in the 50^th minute. That was England’s 100^th goal at the World Cup.

England then increased the lead to 2-0 in the 52^nd when Phil Foden ran into the six-yard box finishing off a cross by Harry Kane into the undefended goal.

Marcus Rashford scored his second goal of the match to further increase the lead to 3-0 in the 68^th minute. Rashford worked his way up on the left side, cut inside, brushed off a defender and then took a left foot shot that sent the ball in between the legs of the goalkeeper Danny Ward.

England totalled seven points topping Group B and qualifying to the Round of 16 quite comfortably.

This was the first ever encounter by England against another British side at the World Cup.
