By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Friday, November 25, 2022, Prime Minister John Briceño launched the 6th annual National Entrepreneurship Convention.
The event was held under the theme, “Empowering MSMEs in the Disruptive Era”.
The event featured 50 business owners and participating international speakers, business support agencies, financial institutions, academic institutions, local and national government agencies, and the media.
PM Briceño says that a special feature of this year’s EntreCon was the first Belize EntreCon awards.

Great Blue Entrepreneurs of the Year – Belize Women’s Seaweed Farmers Association
Sustainable Entrepreneur of the Year – Naomi Sanchez & Gival Marin- Zero Belize
Creative Entrepreneur of the Year – Kelvin Baizar
Youth Entrepreneur of the Year – Javier Saqui- Ya’axkin Butterfly Farm
Disruptor of the Year- Andre Pitts of Brain Freeze Margaritas
Special award to Orlando Castillo of Appliance Service Center, in Dangriga Town as BELTRAIDE’s longstanding Client of the Year.
I recognize the 5 female Belizean artists who participated in the Covid Relief for Women in Emerging Industries (CRWEI) Program – Melonie Gillett, Jackie Castillo, Denise Castillo, Chanelle Parks, and Miss Honey Dee.”
