By Aaron Humes: A policeman with ties to a recent murder victim has been definitively cleared of involvement according to the Police Department.
Almost a month ago, on October 31, Celia Florian, a thirty-year-old waitress of Belmopan, went missing. Her body was discovered off the Hummingbird Highway four days later and a post-mortem thereafter certified that she died of strangulation.
Early investigation into the case focused on the unnamed police officer who was an acquaintance of the deceased, but he has since been cleared and nothing else has come up that can point to who ended Celia’s life, as explained by Commissioner of Police Chester Williams: “The woman, the victim is an acquaintance of a police officer and yes, we have looked at that possibility of the police officer’s involvement, but at this time there is [not an] iota of evidence to indicate that the police officer is involved. It’s just a matter of he knew the woman and that’s it.”
