By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Tunisia celebrated wildly when they scored against France in the 58th minute as that goal was giving them the ticket to the second round, but a little later Australia scored against Denmark, and the Aussies grabbed the ticket out of their hands.

The two scores remained the same until the final whistle: Tunisia 1-0 over France and Australia 1-0 over Denmark.

Australia qualified, along with France, as they totaled six points to Tunisia’s four.

The only consolation Tunisia had was that they had beaten France at the World Cup.

Wahbi Khazri rushed through France’s defensive line in between a circle of defenders in the 58th minute and nailed the ball past goalkeeper Steve Mandanga causing Tunisian fans to erupt in a celebration of unbridled joy.

When Australia scored over Denmark, Tunisia hunted for the second goal but it never came. In fact, France, which made substitutions right after the goal bringing in the heavy guns Kylian Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann, also pushed forward. For a moment the French celebrated a Griezmann goal in the eighth minute of injury time, but a Video Assistant Referee check ruled the goal offside and the 1-0 score remained.

Bittersweet moment for Tunisia. They had beaten France but have to head home while France and Australia await their opponents that will be decided this afternoon when the Group C games are over.
