Design Depo employees convicted in court for theft and handling stolen goods

By Braking Belize News Staff: Two former employees of Design Depot, located at mile 2 1/3 on the Philip Goldson Highway were convicted this week of stealing from their employers.

Twenty-seven-year-old Malcolm Baptist and 23-year-old Zachary Tun appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, Tun was charged with two counts of theft and Baptist with a single count of handling stolen goods.

Both men immediately pleaded guilty to their charges.

Baptist was fined $550 plus $5.00 cost or court which he must pay by February 28, 2023, or he faces three months in jail.

Tun was fined $710 for each count, a total of $1,420.00 and was given until March 31, 2023 to pay or he will also face three months in jail.

Tun was charged for stealing household items amounting to $1,044.96 between August 25-26, 2022.
