By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Thursday, the Government of Mexico announced that it will increase the minimum wage by 20% in 2023, CNN reports.
The announcement was made after the administration of President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador reached a deal with the labor and business sector.
The increase will commence on January 1 and will see the minimum wage go from 172 Mexican pesos ($9 US) to 207 Mexican pesos ($10.82 US), Labor Minister Luisa Maria Alcalde said.
The Government of Belize has also announced that the John Briceno administration plans to implement the $5 minimum wage in 2023.
