International News: Volaris expands El Salvador-U.S. routes

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Thursday, budget airline, Volaris is expanding El Salvador’s flights to the United States, adding 3 new routes, Reuters report.

Flights from San Salvador will fly direct to Houston, Texas, and Oakland, California, four times a week, along with a thrice-weekly flight to Miami, Florida with a layover in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, Volaris said.

Flights to the new routes will commence in March, 2023.

The announcement comes as Mexico is prohibited from launching new routes to the United States as it lacks the U.S.’ Category 1 aviation safety rating.
