Eight European countries qualified to Round of 16 in the 2022 FIFA World Cup; three made it from Asia, two each from Africa and South America, and one from Concacaf.
Out of the 32 countries that started out, 13 were from Europe, six from Asia, five from Africa, four each from South America and Concacaf, and none from Oceania.
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is represented by the Netherlands, France, Poland, England, Croatia, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland in the Round of 16.
The three members of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) that made it to the Round of 16 are Australia, Japan, and South Korea. Australia moved over from the Oceania Football Confederation to the AFC in 2006.
The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has two representatives, namely Senegal and Morocco.
South America: Argentina and Brazil represent the Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CONMEBOL).
And the United States is the only country that made it through for the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF).
