Early morning shooting reported in Dangriga

By Aaron Humes: 21-year-old Salvadoran construction worker Douglas Alexander Menjivar Gonzalez of Aranda Crescent in Dangriga Town is hospitalized after being shot in the center of town early this morning.

According to police, Menjivar and a friend were walking on South Riverside Street when an armed shooter opened fire, heavily injuring Menjivar but leaving his companion unharmed. Police were summoned and Menjivar was taken for treatment at the Southern Regional Hospital, Dangriga, then the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City where he remains at present.

Police investigations continue.
