2022 FIFA World Cup: Japan, Croatia playing extra time to decide who advances to quarterfinals

Japan vs Croatia is the first match in the Round of 16 that is going to extra time to decide who advances to quarterfinals.

After regulation time, the teams are tied 1-1.

Japan hit first on a goal by Daizen Maeda in the 43^rd minute but Croatia responded in the 55^th on a header by Ivan Persisic.

Both have played a very tight and competitive game that will now be decided during extra-time or penalty kicks if necessary.

The teams can make an additional substitution during extra time.
