Accused car battery thief granted bail

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man accused of stealing car batteries for two of his neighbor’s car batteries has been granted bail in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this week.

Moses Almendarez appeared unrepresented in court on Monday, answering to two counts of theft.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and since there was no objection to bail, he was granted bail in the sum of $1,000 plus one surety of the same.

Almendarez stands accused of stealing one LTH car battery, two flash drives, and $35 cash from one vehicle, along with one Renco car battery, a set of car keys, and $450 in cash from the other.

The vehicle owners contacted their landlord and surveillance footage from the building led to Almendarez’s arrest.
