By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On December 6, 2022, the Leadership Intervention Unit, in conjunction with the Belize Police Department met with high school principals from the Eastern Division and other government departments to strengthen cooperation, collaboration, and communication in an effort to create a secure and safe environment for high school students in Belize City.
The purpose of the meeting is to work together to ensure a safe environment for all students so that they are able to grow well psychologically, emotionally, and socially.
The meeting also promoted the need for a concerted effort in developing programs and initiatives to keep students in school and address school violence.
Attendees included representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Department of Youth Service, the Community Rehabilitation Department, Pastor Rocke, Father Dawson, LIU Chairman William Dawson, DCP Dr. A. Richard Rosado, ACP Howell Gillett, Sr. Supt. Romero, and other senior officers, along with several community leaders.
