By Benjamin Flowers: The Carlton and Sheila Arthurs Belize Foundation, a faith-based organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of Belizeans, particularly women, through outreach and support, is hosting a women’s empowerment conference in Dangriga Town this weekend.
The Belize Women Advance Conference is being held at the Russell Chiste Garcia Auditorium on Lakeland Street, starting at 10:00 a.m.
Pastor Gale Arthurs Kranhenbul, daughter of the late Pastor Carlton Arthurs, told Breaking Belize News that the conference was inspired by her father’s love for Belize and her family’s love of helping women to reach their full potential.
Pastor Kranhenbul explained that the conference is catering to a total of 250 people with the hopes that young girls and women of all ages will attend to benefit from what will be shared.
“We are gonna have empowering workshops. We are gonna talk about issues such as mental health, physical health, spiritual and emotional wellness,” Pastor Kranhenbul said.
The conference will also feature a luncheon, prize giveaways, and a pop-up shop where attendees can buy jewelry and other items at discounted prices.
The conference also serves as a means of establishing relationships with the women in the community as the foundation prepares to establish a presence in southern Belize to continue outreach.
“We don’t consider ourselves missionaries, because this is our home. How can you be a missionary in your home? Belize is my ancestral home and we are coming home to our people,” she added. “I want them [the attendees] to leave knowing that their life has a divine purpose and that they are created to soar. And that they can change the trajectory of their life no matter where they are starting.”

The foundation, which is represented in Belize by Thompson Unlimited 501, also broke ground in 2021 for the construction of a youth dormitory in Mullins River, which will be a site for more outreach activities in the years to come.
