By Aaron Humes: The long arm of the law appears to have caught up with Aldrick Scott, 47, of Topeka, Kansas. He is wanted by Nebraska authorities for the disappearance and alleged kidnapping of partner Cari Allen, 43, of Omaha, Nebraska.
Belize Police arrested Scott on Caye Caulker on Tuesday morning and have ferried him back to American authorities to face a warrant in the case of Allen, who went missing on November 20 and has yet to be located.
The NBC affiliate in Omaha spoke to the man who says he turned Scott in – one Shalton Fuentes of Caye Caulker.
Fuentes says he befriended and took in Scott, who he said went by the name of “Nelson.” However, he got suspicious and researched him on the Internet, turning up information about Allen’s disappearance and Scott’s suspected involvement.
Armed with this information, he contacted Police as well as the United States Embassy in Belmopan, and Police cornered Scott on the island and escorted him to Belize City’s Queen Street Police Station, then to the International Airport to return home.
Fuentes says he did it in the spirit of “protect and serve” – but would like to be rewarded for his efforts.
