International News: Mexican officials on high alert after threatening cartel video goes viral

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Law enforcement officials in Mexico are on high alert after they saw a threatening video of the Familia Michoacana cartel, Latin Post reports.

In the video, members of the cartel are showing weapons and claiming control over several areas.

Journalist Antonio Nieto says that the Familia Michoacana cartel is active in Chalco, Ixtapaluca, Tlahuac, and Milpa Alta since 2006 and has been involved in about 350 incidents over the last three or four years.

The Familia Michoacana cartel has also been active on social media for 20 years, Nieto said.

Though the cartel has not declared war on law enforcement authorities, they are more “out” in the open.
