By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On December 6, 2022, U.S. Embassy representatives met with the National Child Labor Committee in Belize to examine and discuss child labor and forced labor reporting.
Every year, the U.S. State Department reports on steps being taken by governments around the world to enforce child labor and other labor laws, from policy development to building strategic partnerships.
Child labor harms the physical and mental development of children, depriving them of their childhood, their potential, and their dignity.
“We will continue to work closely with the Belizean government to end this grave violation of human rights and protect our most precious resource – our children,” the U.S. Embassy said.
The U.S. Embassy says that the United States is committed to working toward a world free from child labor.
