2022 FIFA World Cup: Argentina clash with the Netherlands for a ticket to the Semifinals

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: After Brazil were eliminated by Croatia, Argentina are the only team from the Americas left in the FIFA World Cup. This afternoon at 1:00, Lionel Messi and company meet with the Netherlands at the Lusail Stadium in Al Daayen to determine which of the two will play against Croatia in the Semifinals.

This is another highly expected match with the Argentines all rallying behind Messi to win a World Cup. But the Netherlands have been performing well so far playing an open style of football. However, Argentina are considered a stronger team than the United States whom the Netherlands eliminated in the Round of 16, so the Dutch might be more conservative today.

But if both come out attacking, we should certainly see a very much entertaining match. But even if they play defensively and counter attack each other, the match will be one to watch.

As you may have seen earlier with Brazil, no one can afford to lose because that’s their ticket to go back home. Better to put the game away in 90 minutes. But easier said than done.

The quarterfinals finish tomorrow Saturday with Morocco facing Portugal at 9:00 am at Al Thumama Stadium in Doha and England taking on the World Champions France qat 1:00 pm at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor

The winners qualify to the semifinals.
