By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Croatia, the penalty kick specialists of the World Cup, beat Brazil 4-2 in a penalty shootout to advance to the semifinals.

Croatia didn’t miss a beat scoring four consecutive penalty kicks by Bikola Vlasic, Lovro Majer, Luka Modric, and Misla Orsic to take the big win.

For Brazil, Rodrigo missed, Casemiro and Pedro nailed it, but Marquinhos missed, and that’s it. Croatia advanced.

Brazil had taken the lead in the 110’ on a Neymar goal. Neymar with a double wall-pass set up his own goal beating defender and goalkeeper to smack a right shot into the goal. Brazil led 1-0 in the last minute of the first extra time.

But Petkovic drew even for Croatia in the 117’ minute to force the penalty kick shootout.

Croatia will now play the winner of Argentina and the Netherlands who play this afternoon.
