By Rubén Morales Iglesias: After having a jogo bonito party against South Korea, Brazil are now facing a tougher opponent in Croatia as the Quarterfinals kick off today.

Croatia is the current World Subchampions and while they had a tough time in their Round of 16 match against Japan, they are a much more experienced opponent than South Korea. Led by Luka Modric, Croatia are a very resilient team that can wait you out and strike when you least expect it.

But, Brazil, led by Neymar, are the top favourite to win this edition of the World Cup. They have been showing that they can control a match while still playing their style of attractive-to-the-eyes brand of football.

Croatia faces Brazil at 9:00 am at the Education City Stadium in Doha.

Later, at 1:00 pm the Netherlands match up with Lionel Messi and Argentina at the Lusail Stadium in Al Daayen.

That’s another highly expected match with the Argentines all rallying behind Messi to win a World Cup. But the Netherlands want to win for themselves and are playing at a high level playing an open style of football. If both come out attacking, expect a very entertaining match. But even if they play defensively counterattacking each other, the match will be one to watch, as in this round, no one can afford to lose because that is their ticket to go back home.

The quarterfinals end on Saturday with surprising Morocco challenging Portugal at 9:00 am at Al Thumama Stadium in Doha and an all-European encounter between England and France following at 1:00 pm at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor. The winners qualify for the semifinals.

As it stands, the winners of the Netherlands vs Argentina will play the winners of Croatia vs Brazil on Tuesday, December 13. The winners of France vs England will play the winners of Morocco vs Portugal on Wednesday, December 14.
