Security guard shot during home invasion in Hattieville

By Aaron Humes: An aggravated burglary occurred around 3:00 this morning at Farmer’s Site area, Hattieville village, Belize District.

During the incident, a security guard was shot and rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).

Wayne Jackson, 58, was seen with a single gunshot wound to the upper left side of the back.

Jackson told police that he arrived home at about 12:30 am and went inside his bedroom to sleep. At about 3:00 am he heard footsteps inside the house. When he asked who it was, someone replied, “gunman.”

He remained in the bedroom, heard a loud noise like gunfire, and after that realized that he was shot.

Police are investigating.
