International News: More than 1,000 migrants cross illegally into Texas

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Sunday night, over 1,000 people as part of a migrant caravan illegally crossed over the U.S.-Mexico border into El Paso, Texas, Fox News reports.

Video footage shows a large group of people crossing into the U.S.

Sources from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection in El Paso noted that authorities had seen 2,397 migrant encounters in the last 24 hours alone.

“Customs and Border Protection’s El Paso Sector on the Texas border with Mexico has seen an increase in encounters,” Customs and Border Protection said.

According to the reports, officials have begun mass releases of several hundred migrants to El Paso city streets.

Recently, Mexican authorities escorted about 20 buses of migrants into Ciudad Juarez and released the migrants to various non-governmental organizations.

The migrants then walked from those locations and crossed illegally into El Paso.
