By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Sagitun GIRLZ’s Jurshia Zuniga was voted the Most Valuable Player of the National Amateur Women’s League (NAWL) opening championship. The Sagitun striker also won the Most Goals award which she shared with Verdes Rebels’ Jessie McLaughlin.

The Sagitun GIRLZ collected six individual awards, Verdes got four, and Rumberas, one at the end of the NAWL 2022-2023 Opening Championship which they won over the Verdes Rebels 4-1 in the final on Saturday.

Apart from Zuniga’s double award, Shalini Zabaneh won the Best Goalkeeper trophy; Diana Vega, the Best Defender; Olivia DaCosta, the Best Midfielder; and Gabriela Mendoza, the Best Young Player.

Added to the goalscorer award, McLaughlin was also named the Best Forward. Verdes also won Best Manager by Jessica Quintero and Best Coach by Wayne Casimiro.

Rumberas received the Fair Play Award.
