Belize Tourism Board donates specialized gel-batteries to Belize Defence Force

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Friday, December 9, 2022, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) handed over 4 specialized gel-batteries to the Belize Defence Force to compliment a solar system at the Xunantunich military outpost in the Cayo District.

The BDF noted that these batteries are essential in the provision of power to the communication system which exists at this off-grid destination.

“The donation is very timely and will replace the already worn gel-batteries at the station,” the BDF noted.

The Belize Defence Force maintains military presence at this strategic position to provide security for tourists and locals while visiting the archeological site.

The total value of the donation is BZ $4,400.

“The Ministry of National Defence and Border Security and the Belize Tourism Board continues to build a strong partnership of cooperation to keep our tourism corridors and destinations secured,” the Ministry said.
