By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Led by Kylian Mbappé, France are the favourites in the second FIFA World Cup Semifinal against Morocco on Wednesday at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Qatar.

France are the defending champions having won the 2018 Final over Croatia, who were blasted 3-0 by Argentina on Tuesday.

Morocco are the underdogs, but the reality is they’re a tough squad. Morocco have only been scored upon once during regulation time throughout the tournament, albeit with an own goal.

However, the much anticipated Final is a showdown between France and Argentina who feature the two best players in the world. Argentina’s heart and soul is Lionel Messi, to many the best player in the world, and France is driven by Kylian Mbappé, considered, by many, his successor. Additionally, both play for Paris Saint Germain (PSG), the French champions.

The question is, can France open up the Morocco defensive line and get past them into the Final?

Morocco have an enormous amount of support in Qatar and have been playing as if they were at home. After all, they are not only the first African nation to have reached this far, they are also the representatives of the Arab world.

On top of that they are playing one more of the countries where their people migrate to. One million Moroccans live in France, and for them to defeat France after taking down Belgium, Spain, and Portugal, would be a great achievement.
