By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Sport apparel company adidas ran out of its stocks of Lionel Messi Argentina shirts which have sold out worldwide ahead of the 2022 World Cup final on Sunday.

The support Messi has around is such that more and more shirts have been selling as the World Cup progressed and Argentina made its way to the Final.

Adidas reportedly knew the shirts would be in high demand but they didn’t anticipate how huge the demand would be.

According to Spanish sports newspaper Marca, the adidas production of Messi number 10 shirts ‘collapsed’ due to the high demand worldwide to the extent that the Argentina Football Association (AFA) had to make a statement.

“We can’t do anything about it, although it’s in our interest to sell more,” AFA said.

“It is a matter of adidas and there are problems in the country that affect them, such as the obstacles to imports and the lack of manpower, as well as the high level of public anger.”

According to Marca, adidas is working on a special edition shirt in case Messi and Argentina win the World Cup.
