By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Croatia led 2-1 at the half over Morocco in the third-place match after a 42nd-minute goal by Mislav Orsic at the Khalifa International Stadium in Ar-Rayyan, Qatar.

Orsic’s goal was a spectacular floater from the left wing. The ball passed over goalkeeper Yassine Bounou ricocheting off the right goalpost into the net.

The third-place game has had the fastest start at the World Cup with two goals scored in the first nine minutes.

Josko Gvardiol, the man beaten by Lionel Messi in the last game prior to the last goal by Argentina, redeemed himself by scoring the opener off a diving header for Croatia in the 7th minute.

But Morocco were not to be outdone and leveled just two minutes later in the 9th minute with a header from Achraf Dari to tie the match 1-1.

Coincidentally, both goalscorers sport number 20 on their jerseys.

Third-place games have not been short on goals with the average being four goals per game. This one already has three and with both teams playing openly, surely more will come in the second half.
