Elderly woman dies in Belize City house fire

By Benjamin Flowers: An 83-year-old woman died in a house fire in Belize City early this morning.

Police say that around d 12:30 a.m. authorities were called to the scene of a fire on Rasta Street, where they found a green concrete house measuring approximately 26 feet by 30 feet, engulfed in flames.

Personnel from the Belize National Fire Service extinguished the blaze and a follow-up investigation of the remains led to the discovery of the body of Elita Elswith Coleman.

Coleman’s body was transported to the KHMH’s morgue where it was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police are investigating.
