Police say Rodney O’Brien shooting was just a random incident

By Benjamin Flowers: Police believe there was no real cause for the shooting of Rodney O’Brien, which took place in Belize City on Saturday night.

Head of Communications for the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Fitzroy Yearwood, explained that O’Brien was riding his motorcycle on Lakeview Street just before 3 a.m. on December 17, when he heard a loud bang that sounded like gunshots coming from the direction of Banak Street and realized he had been shot.

“I believe that this is just a random shooting, bearing in mind the hour that this took place,” Yearwood said. “Someone was up to no good.”

O’Brien managed to get himself to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he is receiving treatment for gunshot wounds to the body.
