Police say they have not determined the intended target in Belize City triple-shooting

By Benjamin Flowers: The Belize Police Department said today that it has not determined with certainty the intended target of a triple shooting in Belize City last week.

On Thursday, December 15, 61-year-old Kingsley Morrison, 25-year-old Chris Welch, and 25-year-old Ullide Allen, were all in Morrison’s car near the Adventist Church on Lacroix Boulevard when they came under gunfire. Morrison drove away in the direction of Mahogany Street and when he came near King’s Construction Supplies, another gunman opened fire on the vehicle.

Morrison eventually drew his licensed firearm and returned fire upon his assailants to secure his escape. All three men were treated for gunshot injuries to the body at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Fitzroy Yearwood, said that investigations are underway since the incident, and while police have not determined the target they have already ruled one person out.

“I don’t believe Mr, Morrison has any enemies out there,” Yearwood said, “so it would have to be one of the other two occupants.”

Yearwood said that the investigation has progressed to the point where an arrest can be made soon.

“I know there were statements recorded. Police know who they are looking for in connection with this shooting,” Yearwood added. “So hopefully we will be able to make an arrest in this incident.”
