By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two Westrac Slick Runners are being applauded for solid performances during the 11th annual End of the World (EOW) Half Marathon held in Placencia Village this month, claiming two of the top five spots.

Benque Viejo del Carmen resident, 15-year-old Carlos Joel Emmanuel Martinez (Chippi), a 2nd Form student at Mount Carmel High School, participated in the EOW half-marathon, a 13-mile run. Martinez, who has only been running for two years, placed 37th overall out of 220 runners, and 5th in the Under 20 category. He completed the marathon with a time of 02:00:55, according to Total Time Chip Timing Service.

Also giving a notable performance in the event was 17-year-old Cody Pech, a 4th Form Student at Sacred Heart College, who also participated in the EOW Half Marathon, after only running for eight months. Pech placed 9th out of the overall 220 runners and 3rd in the U-20 category. Pech finished the event with a completion time of 01:34:54.

Both runners have a promising future, as they have performed well in previous events. Pech participated in the “Run for the jaguars” on November 27, and placed 1st overall, while Martinez placed second in the same event.

Breaking Belize News applauds both Pech and Martinez and looks on with interest as their careers in running progress.
