By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after being unable to post bail.
Thirty-three-year-old Conrad Guzman appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday, charged with one count of wounding and one count of using threatening words.
Guzman immediately pleaded guilty to the wounding but disputed the facts read to him regarding the threatening words charge, so an equivocal plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf.
Bail was set at $1,500 plus one surety of the same, which Guzman was not able to meet. He will remain on remand until he is able to do so. Guzman is due back in court on January 23, 2023.
Allegations are that he and the victim, Roger Blake got into an altercation on Friday, December 16, where he admittedly assaulted Blake. Blake told police that Guzman also threatened to kill him.
