Ulide Anthony Allen back behind bars on second gang affiliation charge

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belize City resident, 25-year-old Ulide Allen is back at the Belize Central Prison after being charged a second time with gang affiliation.

Allen appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday, answering to one count of being a member of a gang and one count of escaping lawful custody. He pleaded not guilty to both charges, noting that he was charged back in 2018 for affiliation to the PIV gang, to which he pleaded guilty and was fined.

Following his guilty plea, Allen was denied bail pursuant to Section 16-2 of the Crime Control & Criminal Justice Act since the offense of being a member of a gang does not allow for bail to be granted at the Magistrate level. He will remain on remand until February 13, 2023.

Allen stands accused of still being an active member of the PIV gang, and for escaping from the Queen Street Police Station on December 18 while being charged for being a member of a gang.
