By Breaking Belize News Staff: When 42-year-old Angel Dorado appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for his arraignment, he did so with a noticeable injury to the face which he says he got from the police.
Dorado in the presence of his attorney, Ronell Gonzalez was charged with one count of attempted burglary, one count of assaulting a police officer and two counts of damage to property. During his arraignment the Magistrate noticed that his face was black and blue and there was what appeared to be blood in his eyes. He said that he got those injuries while in police custody.
Dorado pleaded not guilty to the charges and bail was granted in the sum of $2,000 which he was able to meet. He is due back in court on January 26, 2023.
The allegations against Dorado were that he attempted to break into the home of his estranged common law wife with the intent on harming her. He was also charged for damaging the woman’s cell phone and window which contained eight glass louvers. He picked up the assault charge at the Ladyville police station the following day, where he stands accused of assaulting Corporal #118, Elijah Cobb whilst in the execution of his duties.
