By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The most recent livestock export to Mexico was valued at $650,000. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE), a total of 490 head of beef cattle equivalent to 303,078 pounds were exported to Mexico on Tuesday.
“This end of year export is exceptional since the quantity exported has been one of the highest recorded from the time the cattle exportation started,” said MAFSE.
In total, 5485 head of cattle were exported to Mexican company SuKarne. That’s approximately 3,291,000 pounds which generated approximately $ 7,075,650.00 for Belizean cattle producers.
Belizean cattle farmers have been exporting through the Belize Livestock Producers Association to Mexican importing company SuKarne since 2021.
