By Aaron Humes: Despite, he says, securely locking up his licensed firearm in his vehicle’s secure compartment, a firefighter still lost his weapon to thieves, according to police.
On Wednesday, December 21, 2022, Tyron Bood, who works at the National Fire Service’s Southside Station on Dolphin Street reported that on Sunday at about 3:00 p.m., he left his home en route to work and took along his black 9-millimeter Glock pistol loaded with 15 live rounds of ammunition, which he left in the glove compartment of his Ford Escape SUV.
While on duty between the hours of 7:00 p.m., on Sunday and 7:30 a.m. Monday, he locked and secured all doors at his workplace and apparently there were no disturbances. However, on Monday morning, upon making checks in his vehicle he discovered that his firearm was missing.
Police investigation continues.
