Toledo man out on $20,000 bail must seek anger management counseling

Posted: Friday, December 23, 2022. 6:34 pm CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Toledo man, charged with pulling a gun on someone, has been granted bail in the Supreme Court.

Aguacate Village resident Carlos Choco appeared for a bail hearing on Thursday, before Justice Ricardo O’Neil Sandcroft.

Choco had been charged with aggravated assault on December 7, and since the offense was committed with a firearm, he was denied bail in the first instance.

Choco’s attorney, Emmerita Anderson, successfully argued for him to receive bail and it was granted in the sum of $20,000 plus either one surety of the same or four sureties of $5,000 each.

As part of his bail conditions, Choco must seek anger management counseling and refrain from having any contact with the complainant or any of the prosecution’s witnesses. He must also sign in to a designated police station twice a week and is under a 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. curfew.
