By Aaron Humes: Another December wave of COVID-19 is underway, but signs are showing that this wave may not be as bad as the previous ones.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness reports 271 new cases of COVID-19 from December 20-27, down from a figure of 299 the previous week. There are 144 active cases of the virus countrywide, down from 232 last week.
While two persons are hospitalized, no new deaths have been reported. The active positivity rate is 15.3 percent.
The Ministry reminds that constant and regular washing of hands, social distancing where necessary and wearing of masks especially in enclosed, unventilated spaces can protect against COVID-19, as well as vaccination and booster shots where available and eligible.
