By Aaron Humes: While a motive has not yet been established in the death of Lyndon Hinds, police say that due in part to his street reputation, efforts are being made to avoid retaliation and escalation of hostilities in the Pitter Street/Elston Kerr Street/Antelope Street Extension area.
Hinds, 30, was shot to death after opening his front door around 1:45 p.m. to unknown persons who were shouting “Police”.
Hinds was previously charged with being a member of a gang and was accused in the 2020 murder of five-year-old Kia Herbert, shot dead in her home not far away, but police have not established gang-related involvement if any so far.
Several persons have been detained for questioning as part of continuing police investigations at this time.
