By Benjamin Flowers: All planets will be visible in the night sky tonight, reports the Daily Mail.

While Venus, Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter and Mars were already visible in the night sky, the alignment did not allow for Uranus and Neptune to be seen until today. Stargazers will need the aid of either binoculars or a telescope to view Uranus and Neptune.

The planets are said to appear as small points of light to those in the northern hemisphere. Venus is noted as the easiest to see because it shines the brightest, up to 70 times brighter than Mercury. Mercury is alternately listed as the hardest to spot without magnification, however, it can be easier to spot by first finding Venus.

“Tonight they appear just 1.5 degrees apart, and reach conjunction – their closest point – on December 29 at 21:00 GMT (16:00 ET). The two won’t be this close again until 2024,” the Daily Mail explained.

A waxing moon will also join the platetery display tonight, appearing between Jupiter and Saturn.
