International News: Italy reports 50% of passengers on flights from China have COVID-19

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Health authorities in Italy say that half of passengers on 2 flights from China have tested positive for COVID-19, Bloomberg reports.

Italy is now sequencing the COVID-19 tests for the possibility of new variants.

Since the Chinese government abandoned its strict COVID-19 measures, there has been a surge in COVID-19 infections.

Several countries are now imposing measures for travelers from China.

Today, officials in Milan said that airport authorities tested passengers who arrived on two flights, one from Beijing and one from Shanghai.

The high rate of passengers with COVID-19 has put authorities on alert but Italy has an 80% vaccination rate and many have also received booster shots.
