Altitude’s Dellon ‘Dee Breezy’ Torres undergoes exploratory knee surgery in Chetumal, no ligament tear found

Torres underwent exploratory video surgery which showed that his right knee anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), which had been believed to be torn, was intact.

The Altitude captain was injured in the first Premier League of Belize Opening Championship semifinal against Progresso on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk. In the 54^th minute, Torres scored the opening goal in the 2-1 victory but twisted his right knee in the process.

Torres missed out on the remaining games of the Opening Championships, including the Finals that Altitude won over Verdes, to claim the national championship.

Despite four scans, one in Belize and three in Mexico, showing Dellon had torn his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), Altitude owner Jordan Zabaneh said he wasn’t convinced that Torres’ ACL was torn because Dellon didn’t suffer any swelling or bruising.

So, Torres visited Dr Irvin Bacelis at Clínica Carranza in Chetumal, who had previously done arthroscopic surgery for a meniscus injury on his left knee. According to Zabaneh, the doctor conducted an exploratory video surgery and found that the ACL was intact.

Torres will now undergo a month’s rehabilitation before playing again. He is expected to get the stitches removed in the next two weeks.
