Ronlee Petillo charged with rape and aggravated assault

By Aaron Humes: Police have arrested and charged 34-year-old Ronlee Petillo, recently wanted, on charges of rape and aggravated assault.

The rape charge according to police stems from a complaint made by a female on December 9.

According to police, the aggravated assault charge arises from a complaint by a female Belize City resident who said she had made a complaint about a missing person on Tuesday at the Dean Street office of the Department’s Precinct One station. After that she went to a residence on West Street that she frequented while she waited for the friend who accompanied her to make a separate report.

The complainant said a man she recognized as Petillo approached her from an abandoned building on the opposite side of West Street from where she was. The man then pulled out, cranked and pointed at her a black firearm and, using a rude word, threatened inter alia, “dis da weh we do [people] weh like snitch and call up man name.”

The complainant said she feared for her life and ran behind the yard to escape and jumped a fence.
