International News: China says COVID-19 measures for Chinese travelers is ‘discriminatory’

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: State media in China have called measures for Chinese travelers imposed by several countries, ‘discriminatory’, Reuters report.

China had kept borders closed for 3 years, and imposed strict lockdowns and testing but when Beijing began living with the virus and abandoned measures, COVID-19 cases began to soar rapidly.

The United States, India, and other countries have now imposed COVID-19 tests for travellers from China.

“The real intention is to sabotage China’s three years of COVID-19 control efforts and attack the country’s system,” China’s Global Times said.

The state-run tabloid also called the restrictions “unfounded” and “discriminatory.”

Meanwhile, the U.S. has raised concerns over potential mutations of the virus as well as uncertainty over the number of cases being reported.
