Meighan brothers back to court for violation of bail conditions

Posted: Friday, December 30, 2022. 1:15 pm CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Only a week after brothers Ellis and Tyrone Meighan met bail at the Supreme Court, they were summoned by the court for not complying with the conditions of their bail.

Justice Ricardo O’Neil Sandcroft issued a summons for the brothers, after being informed that the brothers had not handed in their passports as was required under the conditions of their $30,000 bail.

The passports were handed in by their mother not long after, and when Justice Sandcroft inquired as to why they were not handed in before, she explained that the passports had expired since November 2021, so she figured it was unnecessary to bring them in right away.

After clearing up the issue Justice Sandcroft told the brothers that he would not revoke their bail, since the matter was easily addressed. The Meighan brothers were charged with being a member of a gang back in 2021, and are due back in the Magistrate’s Court for that case on January 10, 2023.
