Bloody New Year’s weekend: Four dead in 48 hours

By Breaking Belize News Staff: The New Year’s long weekend is off to a bloody start with four dead in a span of 48 hours.

The carnage started off on Friday night in San Pedro with the fatal shooting of 23-year-old visiting American nursing student, Ј’Вrіа Місhеllе Воwеnѕ. Bowens was shot while sitting on a golf cart near Central Park.

On Saturday night, there was a home invasion in the Maya Mopan area of Belmopan in which brothers, Jon and David Ramnarace, were shot dead.

Only moments after midnight on Sunday, a man was murdered on Central American Boulevard in Belize City, the details of which are still forthcoming.

There were also several non-fatal stabbing incidents.

Police have since launched multiple investigations relating to all of the incidents listed above and have noted that, in the Bowens case, they are looking for two known gang affiliates.

We note that the violent weekend came at the close of a violent week with a double murder reported in Belmopan on Thursday.
