Leader of the Opposition challenges Belizeans in New Year’s Address: “Each and every one of us deserves an opportunity to be great”

By Aaron Humes: Eschewing the often-bilious responses from the Opposition to the official New Year’s Address by the Government in years past, Leader of the Opposition Moses “Shyne” Barrow recorded a one-minute address similar to that posted before Christmas.

His simple challenge to Belizeans in 2023 is this: “This is a time where us Belizeans have an opportunity to renew our focus, renew our purpose and prepare ourselves for the greatness that is our destiny. Each and every one of us deserves an opportunity to be great.”

Let this New Year, he added, be the time “to start afresh, to reset, to refocus and again renew that purpose and that sense of vigour to achieve all that it is you set out to,” – and may it be prosperous, healthy and full of love and joy.
